2019 EAST COAST SHOWCASE CANCELED

For the first time in years, we have had to cancel the East Coast Showcase, scheduled for December 8, 2019.  The new recruiting calendar has made our registration numbers dip to a record low.  For this reason, we have decided to change the date for 2020.  The new date of the East Coast Showcase moving forward will now be the last Sunday in November each year.  This should align our event with the recruiting calendar for Division I (until the next round of changes :)).  We will not have the East Coast Showcase in 2019, but will resume with it in 2020.

We also wanted to inform you about our Hampton Headliner Showcase on Friday January 24, 2020 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.  This event will occur the evening before our Hampton MAPL tournament.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PLAY IN THE TOURNAMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SHOWCASE FRIDAY.  Please find more information about the Hampton Headline event here:  https://www.luckydogvolleyball.com/pages/mapl-hampton-headliner-description

Please forgive the inconvenience and we would love to see you in Hampton in 2020 and back at the East Coast Showcase on November 29 in 2020.

Registering For Both Sessions

REGISTER FOR BOTH SESSIONS AND RECEIVE A LUCKY DOG VOLLEYBALL GIFT CARD! GIFT CARD CAN TO BE USED ON SITE AT THE LUCKY DOG VOLLEYBALL STORE THE DAY OF THE SHOWCASE!

Student-athletes may register for both sessions, if they would like to showcase their skills at multiple positions.  This is helpful for players who play at multiple positions (Ex: Setter with high school team and Libero with club team) and want to showcase their skills at more than one position during the event.  Participants may only perform at one position at each session.  Example: A player may register as a Setter for session one and a Libero for session two.  However, a player cannot register as a setter and Libero in session one.

  • To attend BOTH sessions, you must register for each session separately.  Positions in each session are available on a first come, first served basis.  When all slots have been filled in a session, you can opt to participate in a different available position or attend a different session.

Event Format

What makes our showcase unique is our responsiveness to the needs of our student-athletes as well as collegiate coaches.  In considering their requests and needs, we have developed a format that allows for the most effective and efficient use of time for all participants.  In order to accomplish this, our staff is composed of highly trained experts in the volleyball community.  Our Court Coaches provide guidance and instruction on the court during drill work and court play.  Our Skill Evaluators evaluate each student-athlete to identify strengths, weaknesses and overall skill level, relative to the all participants.

Position Play

During this portion of the showcase student-athletes will be divided into groups based on their registered position.  Our Court Coaches will guide the student-athletes through a series of drills that are specific to their position.

Team Play

During this portion of the showcase all student-athletes will be assigned to a court, based on their skill level as determined by their evaluation during team drills.  Student-athletes may participate on multiple courts and multiple positions during this time, depending upon their actual performance during the sets.

Collegiate Recruiting Seminar

Each year we strive to provide student-athletes and their families with valuable information to assist them with the transition from high school to college. Whether they participate in collegiate athletics or not, we believe all high school student-athletes and their parents should be informed about the resources and opportunities available to them. Considered one of the most valuable experiences of the day, our Collegiate Recruiting Seminar provides insight into the college recruiting process from the eyes of college coaches. Typical topics of discussion include: what college recruiters want to see, how recruiters select players, the most effective ways to communicate interest to colleges, a day in the life of a college player, biggest mistakes of first year college athletes. The Collegiate Recruiting Seminar typically includes three NCAA Volleyball Coaches from Division II and III schools. This panel of college coaches will answer questions from parents and student-athletes in attendance.

Event History

The purpose of our showcase event is to connect coaches from the NCAA, NAIA, Junior Colleges and Community Colleges to high school student-athletes, by providing an opportunity for players to perform in front of college recruiters. Each year we host approximately 320 student-athletes and 50-75 volleyball coaches at the event. While we primarily host student-athletes from the south, we have had participants travel from as far away as Hawaii, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Florida. We are pleased to host student-athletes from anywhere in the world.
