QENY | Tournament Information

QENY (pronounced “Kenny”) is the Quest for Excellence New Year's Tournament, sanctioned by USA Volleyball through the North Carolina Region.

Why QENY?

    Registration Opens

    Tournament registration opens Tuesday, August 4th, 2026 in Advanced Event Systems (AES).

    Refund Deadline 5:00 PM EST

    A full refund will be given if Lucky Dog Volleyball receives written notice by Thursday, December 10th, 2026 at 5:00 PM. There will be no refunds for withdrawn or dropped teams after this deadline.

    Entry Deadline 11:45 PM EST

    Teams must be entered and paid by Thursday, December 10th, 2026 at 11:45 PM to be considered for acceptance.

    Teams wishing to register after the deadline, or after a division has been filled, may be placed on a waiting list. Teams will be notified if a spot opens for acceptance, and checks will not be cashed for teams that are not accepted into the tournament.

    Roster Deadline 11:45 PM EST

    Teams are responsible for submitting their roster via AES.

    Teams are permitted to register for the tournament without rosters: however, it is imperative that rosters be loaded into AES as soon as possible to ensure that coaches and team representatives receive vital communications from AES. A roster is also required prior to check-in. 

    Any changes made to a roster between January 6th and January 8th will incur a $25 late submission fee.

    Team Check-in Opens 8:00 AM EST

    Teams are responsible for checking in via AES. There will be no in-person team check-in at the tournament. Team check-in opens Wednesday, January 6th in AES.

    Roster Penalty and Team Check-in Deadline 7:00 PM EST

    Teams must be checked in and have a final roster submitted via AES by Friday, January 8th at 7:00 PM to remain eligible.

    There will be no onsite roster changes permitted, and all changes in AES must be submitted before the final deadline.

    Coaches do not need to purchase tickets. Each coach listed on the roster (maximum of 3 per team) will receive a ticket via the email address on file in AES. Coaches must be on the roster by the deadline in order to receive free entry.

    Schedule

    Doors open at 7:00 AM, play begins at 8:00 AM.
    Teams play in mixed age divisions on Saturday, then split into their respective age divisions on Sunday.

    Awards

    Each age division will crown a champion.
    Teams finishing 1st and 2nd places will be awarded a team award along with individual awards.

    This tournament is NOT Stay-to-Play.

    Spectator Tickets

      Spectator Admission

      Tickets must be purchased online before the tournament.
      QR codes will be available to scan and purchase tickets onsite using your mobile phone, however all ticket sales are online. There will not be a box office to take payment at the facility.

      We strongly recommend purchasing your spectator tickets before arrival to ease the flow of traffic on Saturday and Sunday.

      Tickets are available for single-day or weekend admission. Be sure to confirm the ticket you are purchasing includes the date or multiple days you plan to attend!

      Facial recognition entry will be implemented for faster, smoother check-in. Please purchase your ticket online in advance to ensure an easy process. Children ages 6 years and under are free.

        College Recruiters

          College Coaches

          QENY is using University Athlete (UA) to provide electronic recruiting rosters and schedules in their easy-to-use University Athlete Recruiter app. Log into your UA account to purchase the event packet 1-2 weeks prior to the event.

          Athletes/Parents

          QENY is using University Athlete (UA) to provide electronic recruiting rosters to college coaches. College coaches use the UA mobile app at the event to find and evaluate athletes with the custom schedule feature. They upload their work to their online account and manage recruits from there.

          UA obtains their rosters directly from AES. Sometimes there can be errors in the rosters, but your free UA Athlete profile will always overwrite incorrect data. Log into your free UA Athlete profile 1-2 weeks before this event and check two things:

          1. That you are listed in the roster (on the Roster tab)
          2. That the following critical information is correct: graduation year, scholarship status, email, and phone number

          Facility Rules

            Outside food and drink are not allowed. Concessions will be open. Personal beverage containers are permitted. 

            Coolers, large bags, animals (excluding service animals), weapons, tobacco, and e-cigarette products are not allowed inside or outside of the facilities: including lobby, playing venue, and sidewalks.

            Team “camping” is prohibited. Portable music players are not allowed to be used inside the facility unless they are connected to headphones. “Warm-up music” broadcasted from a speaker or sound system is not allowed.

            No tripods are allowed. A monopod may be used.

            Ball handling and horseplay are not allowed outside of the playing area of the facility.

            Volleyballs and Ball Handling

            Lucky Dog Volleyball will have balls and carts available for check-out for teams that are flying to the event. Please email tournaments@luckydogvolleyball.com if you will need to check out balls, so we can have them available at your playing location.

            For the safety and protection of our guests, ball handling is not permitted outside of the playing court surface.
